Agile Project Plan or Oxymoron
 

Are Agile and planning polar opposites, can you have both? If you have a fixed scope, fixed funding, and fixed time – to what extend can you be Agile? How do you, “plan”, to meet your contractual requirements? Are there Agile techniques that fit? Please be prepared to share your experiences utilizing Agile within a fixed-constraints project.

What is more important to project success, emotional intelligence or academic intelligence? Is it better to understand emotions or quote the PMBOK? Is emotional intelligence more than soft skills? Attendees should be prepared to discuss their opinions and experiences of the part that emotional intelligence plays and if it is preferred over academic intelligence.

Servant Leadership

What does it mean to be a servant leader? Is this a position only in Agile environments? What characteristics and qualities do servant leaders exhibit as opposed to a manager or a run-of-the-mill leader? What sets a servant leader apart from the rest? Attendees should be prepared to discuss their opinions and experiences regarding the qualities of servant leaders.

Gifting Wisdom

In the spirit of the season, our meeting will focus on sharing – gifting – wisdom. In a timed – game setting, our wise attendees will be provided scenarios, common or not, to project managers. Scenarios will range from peer settings to client requests and will all focus on providing – gifting – wisdom whether it be from experience or what one hopes would occur. Join our holiday fun as gifting wisdom will be augmented with gifting items provided by the Chapter.

Change Management

When does a change need to be managed? Are all changes managed utilizing the same process? Who decides? These and other questions regarding change management will be open for discussion. Please be prepared to share your experiences and opinions regarding change management; what worked to what was a disaster.
