Chapter Event, May 2017: Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) – New Roles, New Responsibilities
Large organizations with decades of legacy application history are finding it more and more difficult to deliver quality software. As a result, IT leaders are turning to Agile software development methods to help “unclog the machine”. However, most organizations don’t anticipate the magnitude of change required to transform a traditional waterfall environment with functional areas of expertise into an organization that is focused on the delivery of customer value. They soon realize that it requires more attention than simply changing vocabulary. A backlog is not the same thing as a requirements document. A ScrumMaster is not the same thing as a project manager.
In this workshop, John Krewson will walk through an increasingly popular framework for applying Agile in large environments: The Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). He’ll provide an overview of the framework, and examine SAFe roles, responsibilities, and artifacts. He’ll also lay out common patterns and anti-patterns for transitioning to Agile.
