COURSE ABSTRACT

Most experts agree that soft and interpersonal skills are even more vital to success than technical skills. Some of these vital skills are conflict management, time management, and managing the inner workings of organizations.

This program provides strategies and techniques that have worked for high-performing project managers who have been recognized and rewarded for their contributions and have completed multiple successful projects.

This course provides an opportunity to earn 4 PDUs in half day.

Part I – Avoiding/Managing Conflict

“If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen” is a common cliché in organizations. Every project has to some degree conflict between individuals/groups. To be successful, the project manager needs to understand and manage conflict. This section provides time-tested methods for reducing and managing conflict, resulting in high-performing project teams along with reduced stress for the project manager.

Part II – Once time is wasted it is gone forever!

Many hard-working project managers are terribly inefficient in their use of available time. Procrastination, vacillation, idle conversation, indecision, less than optimal planning, and allowing too many interruptions all contribute to complaints, such as “There is not enough time to get work done.” Few resources are as valuable as time. This section explores this issue and provides the project manager with time-tested strategies to accomplish more with less time.

Part III - Strategies & Techniques for Recognition, Career Success, and Advancement

Project Managers are in a demanding situation. They typically have high responsibility with limited authority and tend to be blamed when projects encounter problems. Very frequently, they do not receive the recognition that they deserve and career advancement opportunities that they have earned. This section provides strategies and techniques that have worked for successful project managers who have been recognized for their contributions and have climbed the corporate ladder.
